Mixed Media
This one was inspired by my fascination of the feminine spirit in folklore and stories from ancient times.
This little mixed piece was inspired by our trip to Paris. After touring the palace at Versailles, gardens and grounds, we sat at a little bakery and tea room and talked about the days events. Taking a trip back to another era was definitely a day to remember.
First in "Sky's The Limit Series" “When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds: Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.” This beautiful Patanjali Quote inspired "Sky's The Limit" Series.
From The Sky's The Limit Series: In celebration of Canada's 150th birthday, I incorporated Canadiana such as the Bill of Rights, Parliament buildings and Coat of Arms. (literally on her arm!) I used paint, papers, marker, nail polish and stamps as a type of "time capsule" to mark where I was in my life during this celebratory time. I also used newspaper clippings from from my column I write in The Country Register of Ontario magazine.
From The Sky's The Limit Series: I'm a columnist for a magazine so the written word is just another aspect and extension of who I am, creatively. Therefore, I literally infused clippings of my written material into this piece. I also incorporated items from a recent trip to Italy such as serviettes, programs and other paper fragments collected while on my inspirational travels to visit the iconic galleries. I also added paint, marker, pen and nail polish.
